Andrews: Brentford will only do January business if it's right

Brentford head coach Keith Andrews:

"Naturally, when you come towards a transfer window, regardless of which one it is, you always want to strengthen the squad.

"How we do that is down to the people at the club that run that side of it.

"We'll work collaboratively and try to strengthen and tweak the squad in a way where we see will benefit us.

"But, equally, if it's not right, we won't do it."

'I don't see him at Chelsea next season' - Carra explains bold Maresca prediction

Speaking on Monday Night Football this week SportsNews pundit Jamie Carragher said he didn't expect Enzo Maresca to be Chelsea manager next season due to recent comments the head coach has made.

However, he did also say Maresca has shown he can compete with top coaches tactically during his time in charge at Chelsea.

Maresca 'among candidates to replace Guardiola'

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is among the candidates being considered by Man City to succeed Pep Guardiola, should he leave the club in the summer, according to The Athletic.

Guardiola's current deal with City runs until 2027 but it is being reported the club are making contingency plans for when the six-time Premier League champion decides to step away.

Maresca was one of Guardiola's assistant managers during their treble-winning 2022-23 season before going on to win the Championship with Leicester and two trophies with Chelsea as a head coach himself.

Guilherme wants to fight for West Ham place

Latest from SportsNews News' Chris Reidy:

Luis Guilherme wants to stay at West Ham and fight for his position, SportsNews News understands.

There have been reports ahead of the January window that Guilherme could be set to leave.

The 19-year-old winger has made five appearances this season, three coming under Nuno Espirito Santo, but has not been included in West Hams last three matchday squads.

He signed for West Ham in June 2024 for 25m.

West Ham are interested in Fulham's Adama Traore with a new winger being one of their priorities in the window.

Bloomfield: Luton was heartbreaking but I am ready for next challenge

In this exclusive interview with SportsNews, former Colchester, Wycombe and Luton manager Matt Bloomfield opens up about the journey so far and the work that he is continuing to put in to become a better leader than ever before.

Glasner expects Guehi to stay until end of season

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner says he expects club captain Marc Guehi to stay at the club until the end of the season.

Guehi is out of contract in the summer but reports suggest he could be targeted by Man City or Liverpool - the club he almost joined on Deadline Day - when the January transfer window opens.

But Glasner doesn't expect Guehi to be sold next month.

"I think Marc will stay in place until the end of the season," he said.

"That's my understanding now. Nobody told me something different.

"I know there's no offer right now so why expect something different?"

Bournemouth targeting three areas to strengthen in January

Latest from Mark McAdam and Kaveh Solhekol:

Bournemouth are plotting more transfer business ahead of the January window as they look to improve Andoni Iraolas squad.

The south-coast club had the best net spend in the Premier League this summer, selling key players to Real Madrid, PSG and Liverpool as well as making seven new signings themselves.

While the hierarchy at the club are happy with their recruitment and evolution of the team they want to add more to the group with a goalkeeper, winger and central defender all being targeted for January. Thats if the right players become available.

Last seasons goalkeeper Kepa was replaced by Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea, but this is a position they want to recruit for again if possible, with someone that can challenge Petrovic to be the Bournemouth No 1.

A centre-back with height and presence is on their recruitment list as is a winger.

Theyre fully aware of the links surrounding star-man Antoine Semenyo, with a host of sides queuing up to take the Ghana international, who has a release clause understood to be around 60m.

They know replacing him like-for-like will be near impossible but they have a number of options theyre targeting for the winter window and the summer.

January can be a tricky month to do business, but there can be deals to be done, particularly for a club like Bournemouth that like to target younger players who have huge potential.

The Cherries have gone seven Premier League games without a win and have slipped down from 2nd to 13th.

Crystal Palace actively seeking new RWB after Munoz injury

Latest from SportsNews News' James Savundra:

Crystal Palace are now actively looking in the January market for new right wing-back options in the wake of Daniel Munozs injury.

The Colombian requires surgery on a knee problem - and he could be out for an extended period as he recovers.

Second-choice to Munoz is the experienced Nathaniel Clyne - but he is now 34 and out of contract at the end of the season.

They also have 19-year-old Rio Cardines, who made his senior debut in the Conference League this season, but remains relatively inexperienced.

Palace are therefore doing due diligence on potential options and considering whether to make a signing in the position when the transfer window reopens next month.

Munoz, 29, is himself being tracked by a number of top clubs due to his outstanding performances for Palace under Oliver Glasner.

Munoz is under contract at Palace until 2028 with the option to extend that until 2029 also existing in that deal.
